What inspires you about counseling?
I like a quote from Lao Tze that goes: “Knowing other is wisdom, knowing yourself is enlightenment.” This field provides me a chance to approach both wisdom and enlightenment.

What do you like best about your position in Learning Services?
I believe that everyone can achieve their academic goal by figuring out their unique study pace and method through various strategies. It is a honor for me to help students on their journey of self-discovery.

What is one thing you want others to know about Learning Services
Learning services is not a place just for students who have learning disabilities. Seeking help from Learning Services does not mean you are incompetent in learning. Contrarily, looking for help is one of the most efficient ways of learning.

How would you describe your learning style?
Auditory and Kinesthetic

What are your academic challenges?
As a graduate student, I have many obligations for both school and personal life, which makes me over-commit myself sometimes. I am working to find out an optimal schedule to balance school, work, and life.

How do you overcome those challenges?
I use a calendar to track my tasks. I am also a big fan of using our Weekly Time Budget Sheet to break down weekly schedule. Both calendar and Weekly Time Budget sheet provide a visualized big picture of the entire semester as well as the narrative weekly schedule for me.

How do you use that experience to help students?
I believe time management skills should be on top of all study strategies. Students bring in different presenting challenges, such as procrastination, lack of motivation, or academic anxiety. Frequently, these issues connect to one thing—TIME MANAGEMENT. I often work with students to help them view their challenges from different perspectives by utilizing particular time management tools.

Hobbies & Interests
I love to travel. I have been to fifteen countries!  This might be weird for a lot of people, but I love airline meals. While flying, mealtime is the most delightful time for me.

Future Goals
I will pursue a PhD in the counseling field, concentrating in early childhood mental health. My ultimate goal is to run my own early mental health and play therapy center. In addition, traveling around the world is always a goal in the background. My next travel destination is Africa, and I hope to achieve that goal within the next two years.
